Q and A

Q01. Please let me know the tolerance of a tape measure.

Since it is manufacturing based on a JIS standard, in the state (state where KOMBEKKUSURURU and a thin width tape measure do not apply tension) where predetermined tension was applied in the line which becomes an axis direction on the basis of the temperature of 20 degrees C, it becomes as the following formula according to the arbitrary length from a reference point, and the length between arbitrary 2 scale lines.

The 1st grade:±(0.2+0.1L)mm     L : Measurement length (m)

* In the case of the tape measure on the basis of edge side, the tolerance from a reference point adds ±0.2mm to the value of an upper type.

Q02. Although standard tension and standard temperature are set to the tape measure, please teach me the method of the compensation in the case of measuring standard tension and except standard temperature.

The next calculation rectifies.

Correction-for-pull type

Lp = (P-PO) L / A ⋅ E

Lp :The flexible value by tension (mm)
P :Tension at the time of measurement (N)
P0 :Standard tension (N)
L :The length of a tape measure (mm)

A :Cross-section area of a tape measure
* Comet = 2.32mm2
  Comet mini = 1.29mm2
  Steel = 2.60mm2
  Stainless steel = 2.60mm2

E :Elastic coefficient
* Comet = 20.6x104 (N/mm2)
  Comet mini = 20.6x104 (N/mm2)
  Steel = 20.6x104 (N/mm2)
  Stainless steel = 19.3x104 (N/mm2)

Correction-for-temperature type

Lt=Ld(T-20)

Lt :The flexible value by temperature (mm)
L :The length of a tape measure (mm)
T :Temperature at the time of measurement (degree C)

d :Coefficient of linear expansion
* Comet = 11.5x10-6(/degree C)
  Comet mini = 11.5x10-6(/degree C)
  Steel = 11.5x10-6(/degree C)
  Stainless steel = 14.0x10-6(/degree C)

* Since the above-mentioned numerical value is the thing of product of our company, in use of the product of the other company, please ask each maker.

Moreover, since it is also when "the cross-section area of a tape measure" becomes specification change also in product of our company, when rectified, please give me affirmation.

Q03. Is also the use in high temperature possible for a tape measure?

Since clear (transparent melamine resin) coating on the surface of a tape is dried at \200 degrees C, use in not much hot environment cannot be performed.

Q04. Is a tank tape measure (tank scale) a JIS standard? Moreover, can it respond to ISO?

It is the JIS standard which fulfills the following conditions. A tape measure calls, the mass of that a size is 5m to 200m, and it is a 5m integral multiple and a weight comes out 200g-2, and it is a certain thing.
In addition, if three points, an inspection report, a proofreading certificate, and traceability, can be arranged and obtained, it can respond to ISO.

Q05. Is a standard in the weight of a tank tape measure (tank scale)?

Especially sizes other than a standard weight are not specified. In addition, the standard weight of our company is a 350g product made from true brss.

Q06. Is a diameter tape a JIS standard?
Moreover, can it respond to ISO?

It is not a JIS standard. Moreover, in ISO, they are an inspection report, a proofreading certificate, and a traceability of calobration accuracy. It can respond, if three points of documents can be arranged and obtained.

Q07. When it measures on a diameter tape, is it what must carry out thickness compensation?

Since a scale has thickness compensation by carrying out, a reading becomes a diameter as it is.

Q08. Please let me know the accuracy of an outside diameter tape.

The tolerance at the time of the inspection in our company (difference of an actual measurement and a calculation value) is as in the following tables.

Measurement range Diameter(V-type) Diameter(VH-type)
Less than 3000mm Less than ±0.10mm Less than ±0.03mm

How to calculate a calculated value

{(Measurement range)+(thickness of a tape)} x pi

* Unit. mm
* By our company pi= 3.14159 It has calculated.

Q09. Please let me know about the basis of thickness compensation of a diameter tape.

When a tape is wound around a measured thing, shrinkage tape external surface is extended by the inside of a tape. Since it will be in the state where there are no expansion and contraction at the center of tape thickness at this time, compensation of thickness is set to (1/2of thickness)+(1/2 of thickness by the side of opposite) =1.
Therefore, when thickness is 0.2mm 0.1+ opposite side
0.1=0.2mm becomes a compensation value.

Q10. Can the outside diameter tape for outer diameter measurement be used also for the diameter measurement of inner?

Although it is possible, the use as a standard will be the requisite.

Since thickness compensation has been carried out, when using a standard outside diameter tape for the diameter measurement of inner, the numerical value which added the twice of tape thickness to the reading becomes a diameter.

Q11. Is the inspection report attached to the tape measure?

It is not attached to a standard article.

Although an in-house inspection report can be attached if there is a demand, it takes the time for delivery for about two weeks. Moreover, when a proofreading certificate and a traceability system figure are required, combine. Please request.

Q12. Although he wants the thing of the specification which the tape rolled round and has come out from the tip of a case, is it in a tank scale?

The thing of specification in which the tape has appeared from the rolling-up case tip is not preparing.

The tape of our company is produced by the standard which does not let a tip pass fundamentally. It is because wear on the surface of a tape is brought forward by letting a tape pass at the tip of a case and exfoliation of clear coating and scale ink occurs early.
